Israeli strikes against the Palestinians is a gross violation of international laws and human rights, GCC secretary-general Abdullatif al-Zayani said Wednesday.
He called for "an end to the bloodshed of innocent Palestinians, " highlighting the mounting number of civilian casualties caused by Israel's latest air raids on the densely-populated enclave.
"The continuation of Israeli attacks in the occupied Palestinian territories, and the policy of revenge and repression practiced by Israel against the Palestinians, constitutes a flagrant violation of the Palestinian people rights as well as the international laws and norms," Arabic daily al-Ayam newspaper quoted Zayani as saying on Wednesday.
He urged the international community and UN Security Council to accelerate efforts and halt the Israel's aggressive strikes and protect Palestinians.
Despite a high civilian death toll in Gaza Strip from the Israeli air strikes, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Tuesday the Jewish State will expand its offensive against Hamas, soon after the first Israeli civilian was killed by one of the hundreds of rockets Hamas has continuously launched toward Israel.
Israel's Operation Protective Edge began last week and has killed over 200 Palestinians, including women, children, the elderly and the disabled, while 1,410 other Gazans have been injured, which have triggered international outrage.
Earlier this week, Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifah issued directives to provide urgent humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people to ease their suffering.
He announced he was donating 5 million U.S. dollars to the Palestinian people in Gaza to help them "overcome the crisis triggered by the brutal Israeli offensive" on the besieged strip, while tasking the Royal Charity Organization with examining the issue.
