The number of mobile phone subscribers and users (pre-paid customers) reached 56.9 million at the end of June, a 2.5 percent year-on-year rise and a 0.6 percent rise since the end of last year, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported on Wednesday.

Pre-paid customers constituted 53 percent of the total number of users.

There were 147.7 mobile subscribers and users per 100 inhabitants at the end of June versus 146.8 at the end oflast year, GUS said.

In the first half of 2014, sales of overall telecom services, which also include postal and courier services, increased by 0.2 percent compared to the same period of 2013, the statistics office reported. Endi
