Bons Sons festival kicked off in Tomar, Portugal on Thursday, with over 55 concerts dedicated to Portuguese music.

The festival takes place every two years in the village of Cem Soldos in central Portugal and is organized by cultural association Sport Club Worker of Cem Soldos.

The festival's director told Portuguese news agency Lusa that the festival aims to take "the vanguard and contemporaneity to the rural space" and that this year the number of tickets sold was higher than those sold two years ago.

We Trust and Banda Filarmmnica Gualdim Pais are among the 55 bands playing during the next four days. Other artists include rapper Capicua, Charanga, JP Simoes and Gisela Joao.

Bons Sons received 35,000 people in 2012.

Other concerts taking place next week, which also focus in national music include Sol da Caparica, in Almada and Fusing as well as in Figueira de Foz. Enditem
