This year's Emmy viewership drops by 11.4 percent

The viewership for the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony on Monday dropped by 11.4 percent from last year to 15.6 million, partly due to the reason that it was on Monday.

But the audience was still the second largest since 2007, according to local media reports.

NBC was the broadcaster, which, to avoid a conflict with the "Sunday Night Football," decided to hold ceremony on Aug. 25, Monday.

Last year's ceremony which aired on CBS. It aired in September, when overall viewing is higher, and followed an NFL game.

The ceremony annually rotates among the four major broadcast networks. The other two are ABC and Fox.

This year's ceremony was held at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. It was the first that held on Monday since 1976. Enditem
