The second Vladivostok Rocks music festival and conference, or V-ROX, opened in Russia's Far Eastern city of Vladivostok on Friday.

The annual fest's main venue is the city's Sportivnaya (Sports) Embankment, one of the most popular places of Vladivostok, the administrative capital of Russian Federation's Primorsky Krai Territory.

The city's top musical event of the year brings more than 200 musicians, music industry professionals, journalists and writers from China, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Mongolia, Britain, Canada, South Africa, and Germany.

The lectures, workshops, panel discussions, art exhibitions, among others, are also on the schedule.

The three-day event features international and local music acts on different stages around Sportivnaya Embankment. Among the acts is Chinese band Candyshop that blends hip-hop, metal, funk and punk using both female and male vocals.

The first V-ROX took place in Vladivostok in 2013 and the four-day event then attracted more than 100,000 visitors and 250,000 viewers via Internet. This year the fest's organizers plan to make the event the significant attraction of the Pacific Rim's cultural scene.

V-ROX was initiated by Russian Mumiy Troll band leader Ilya Lagutenko, with the support of local authorities. Endite
