The Moroccan authorities dismantled a seven-person cell recruiting volunteers to fight with the radical Islamic State (IS), the Interior Ministry said on Friday.
The cell was led by an elementary school teacher and recruited jihadists in the central cities of Fez, Outat elhaj and Zayou, the ministry said.
All the seven people were arrested, according to the ministry.
Last July, Moroccan Interior Minister Mohamed Hassad said in a parliamentary hearing session that 1,122 Moroccan citizens and 2, 000 others from Moroccan origins with European passports were enrolled in jihadist and terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq. Endi
