The police in Kano, northwest Nigeria have confirmed the death of 15 persons, including two suicide bombers, at the Federal College of Education on Wednesday.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Aderinle Shinaba, confirmed the incident shortly after visiting the scene of the incident.
Shinaba told reporters that 34 other persons mostly students and lecturers sustained various degrees of injuries during the attack.
He said the two suicide bombers had before their arrival in the college exchanged gunfire with some of the security operatives.
"After the exchange of gunfire they emerged at the college lecture theater and detonated two explosives and there was another insurgent who was carrying a AK 47 rifle and explosives," he added.
According to him, one of security operatives was able to shoot him and the explosive went off and killed him.
"So far, 15 people were dead while 34 others sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical attention in the hospital," the commissioner said, adding that security had been beefed up in the area.
Although no group has claimed responsibility for the bomb attack, residents of the northwestern state are blaming the incident on Boko Haram, an outlawed sect which had claimed responsibility for killings and kidnappings in Nigeria since 2009. Endi
