Former Manchester City midfielder Elano is the latest high-profile player to sign for an Indian Super League club.
The 33-year-old on Friday agreed to a three-month deal with Chennaiyin FC, who are coached by Italy 2006 World Cup winner Marco Materazzi.
"I'm ready for this new journey in my life to join Marco Materazzi in Chennai," Elano said on Twitter.
Elano, capped 50 times for Brazil, joins Alessandro Del Piero, David Trezeguet, Luis Garcia and Joan Capdevila as other former internationals to commit to the new competition.
The eight-team league will begin in October and end on December 22. Endi
