The musical performance by Nigeria's P Square set for Windhoek over the weekend, which had appeared to be in doubt over fears of the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, is set to go ahead as scheduled after the intervention of Namibia's prime minister.
Organizers of the show said Thursday that the much anticipated P-Square show will definitely take place on Saturday, at the Dr. Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek.
This comes after the government granted authorization for the visas of P-Square to be issued.
"Both Ogopa Butterfly and Windhoek Draught confirmed that the artists had followed a comprehensive medical screening and review process. The same medical screening process will be conducted upon arrival at the Hosea Kutako International Airport by a qualified Namibian medical doctor," a statement from the organizers said.
P-Square is scheduled to arrive in the country on Friday.
Home Affairs Minister Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana and her permanent secretary Patrick Nandago told local weekly Informante that they had done everything possible, including denying the popular duo visas, to prevent Namibia from being affected by Ebola.
However the two felt powerless after receiving a call from the office of the prime minister ordering them to grant the duo visas.
"We received a directive from the prime minister to approve the visas of the Nigerian group. There was nothing that we can do," Nandago said.
