Latvian hotels will be ready for Latvia's Presidency in the European Union Council, said Latvian Hotel and Restaurant Association (LVRA) executive director Santa Graikste in an interview with the Latvian public radio, Baltic News Service reported.
"We are periodically conducting surveys about the situation in the sector, the problems hotels and restaurants are facing, the changes they are seeing -- we can tell that there will be enough hotels and the service will be of the highest level," she said.
She also said that during the presidency, there is the highest demand for four- and five-star hotels. "The segment of four-star hotels is the segment that has developed most in the past years. Thus, we are sure that there will be no problems to ensure the necessary service level," said Graikste.
"There might be changes in prices only if any special services have to be ensured. At present we do not observe any price hikes in relation to the upcoming presidency. There will be heads of states and prime ministers and other top-level guests, but there are also other guests whose resources are limited," she said.
Graikste said that restaurants are also hoping for additional flow of guests in relation to the presidency.
Latvia's Presidency of the EU Council will take place in the first half of 2015.
LVRA is an organization that unites hotels, guest houses, motels and restaurants for a professional cooperation. The association, founded in 1993, now has more than 200 members. Endit
