Cambodia-Thailand trade up 12 pct in 10 months

Trade volume between Cambodia and its neighboring Thailand amounted to 4.18 billion U.S. dollars in the first ten months of 2014, a 12 percent rise over the same period last year, the figures of the Thai Embassy here showed Friday.

During the January-October period this year, Cambodia exports to Thailand valued at 460 million U.S. dollars, up 61 percent over a year earlier, while Thailand exports to Cambodia reached 3.72 billion U.S. dollars, up 8 percent.

Cambodia exported agricultural products, used garments, recyclable metal, and fish to Thailand as it imported vehicles, petroleum, processed goods, construction materials, fruits, and vegetables.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen is visiting Thailand to attend the 5th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit.

Sry Thamarong, a spokesman for Hun Sen, said that the prime minister will meet with his Thai counterpart Prayuth Chan-ocha on Friday evening to discuss ways to further enhance bilateral ties and cooperation. Endi
