Jordan's Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe on Sunday stressed commitment to make peace in the region, the state-run Petra news agency reported.
During their talks in Amman on Sunday, the two sides focused on bilateral ties and ways to further boost relations in various fields, as well as the latest developments in the Middle East.
Ensour said that the challenges facing the region, whether those related to the Palestinian issue or the crisis in Syria, require support from the international community for efforts that aim to fight terrorism and terrorist organizations.
Jordan, he said, has taken important steps to build a modern and a tolerant society.
The Japanese prime minister noted that he was aware of the challenges facing Jordan.
"We are committed to supporting the Kingdom to improve peace and stability in the region and we will continue to do so," Abe added.
During the meeting, the two countries' private sectors signed an agreement to carry out the "Shams Maa'n" project, which will be the largest solar power project in the Middle East with an investment of up to 160 million U.S. dollars. Endit
