Cambodia's Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction said on Friday that it had received 6,556 complaints in land disputes from 2002 to 2014 and most of them had been solved out.
"The number of complaints went down to 990 in 2013 and further dropped to 750 in 2014," the ministry said in a statement, adding, "Since 2002, land disputes have declined from one year to another - it is completely contrary to a local NGO Licadho's report."
The statement was released a day after Licadho issued a report, claiming that land disputes in Cambodia tripled last year.
In its report, Licadho said the number of families newly affected by land conflicts last year tripled to 10,625.
"This figure is too high to reflect the reality," said the ministry statement. Endi
