The red box, used by Singapore's former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew as his briefcase, went on display at the National Museum of Singapore on Thursday, as part of the memorial exhibition.

The box is displayed together with other personal items from Lee Kuan Yew, which includes his barrister wig after he was admitted to the bar, and the Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch presented to him by the Singapore Union of Postal and Telecommunications Workers, said the National Museum and National Heritage Board (NHB) in a joint news release.

Singapore's Education Minister Heng Swee Keat wrote about Lee Kuan Yew's red box in his Facebook post on March 24. The box had been used by Lee to carry and store files and papers that he was working on until Feb. 4, the day before he was hospitalized.

The red box has now been regarded a symbol of Lee Kuan Yew's unwavering dedication to Singapore as the nation's founding father passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on March 23.

Following the exhibition, the red box along with Lee Kuan Yew's other personal objects, and parts of the memorial exhibition will be incorporated into the National Museum's permanent galleries.

Since the exhibition "In Memoriam: Lee Kuan Yew" opened to the public on March 25, over 14,000 people have visited the exhibition. The exhibition will last until April 26 to pay tribute to Singapore's first prime minister. Endi
