A Saudi-led coalition airstriking the Shiite Houthis group in Yemen is considering imposing a truce in some areas to deliver humanitarian aid to the conflict-torn country, Al Arabiya news reported on Monday.
Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al Jubair said in a statement that the airstrikes will be stopped in specific times to facilitate the delivery of assistance to Yemenis.
He warned the Iran-backed Houthi militias of violating the ceasefire or hindering the delivery of the relief aid.
The Saudi-led coalition has been conducting airstrikes against the Houthi rebels and their allies since March 26.
On Sunday, the kingdom denied media reports that non-Yemeni troops were deployed to the port city of Aden to start a ground operation there.
"The coalition continues to help Yemeni militias fighting against the Houthis," spokesman for the coalition Ahmed al-Asiri said in a statement. Endit
