Myanmar President U Thein Sein Tuesday called on all parties to cooperate for achieving stability in the transitional pre-general election period.

In his regular monthly radio speech to the nation, U Thein Sein expressed the belief that representatives who would reflect people 's genuine desire will come out of the upcoming general election.

In order to hold the 2015 general election in a free and fair manner, U Thein Sein urged the government to fully cooperate with the Union Election Commission and other organizations in administrative affairs.

He also called for the building of a new Myanmar by preparing in parallel for the necessary infrastructure without losing sight and by keeping away from extremism.

He stressed the importance of getting rid of the heritage of political and armed conflicts while striving for achieving the objectives.

Myanmar's upcoming 2015 general election is preliminarily set for the end of October or the beginning of November.

Myanmar last held its general election on Nov. 7, 2010 when the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) won the majority with its chairman U Thein Sein elected as the country's president after five decades of military rule.

On April 1, 2012, a first by-election was held in which the opposition party, the National League for Democracy (NLD), won 43 out of 45 then open parliamentary seats with its chairperson Aung San Suu Kyi occupying a seat of House of Representatives (the Lower House). Endi
