Chinese-owned internet service provider, SuperNet, has launched its internet TV in Cambodia, a company representative and Cambodian officials said Thursday.

Speaking during an introduction of the internet TV to Cambodian users in Phnom Penh, SuperNet's CEO Yu Jie said the company has used Over the Top (OTT) Technology Platform to provide internet TV to users.

OTT refers to video, television and other services provided over the internet rather than via a service provider's own dedicated, managed IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) network.

He said the OTT platform stores all telecast content from all TV stations in Cambodia and users can view the past seven-day content through Watch Back Function of Electronic Program Menu.

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An said the introduction of OTT Technology Platform was a new achievement for the kingdom's media and broadcasting technology. "I'd like to thank the company for investing in this sector. The internet TV will provide more options to the Cambodian people to have access to news, entertainment, education, and so on," she said.

At the event, Cambodian Information Minister Khieu Kanharith expressed his support for the application of OTT Technology Platform in the country, saying that it would contribute to the development of broadcasting technology in Cambodia. Endi
