The National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) reopened on Tuesday after a 3-year closure.

It was symbolically opened by several children by removing the note "closed" on the front door.

Dozens of senior officials from state, entity and cantonal governments attended the ceremony, including the Chairman of the Council of Ministers Denis Zvizdic and Civil Affairs Minister Adil Osmanovic.

During his speech, Zvizdic said the National Museum is a national treasure of all citizens of BiH, with extraordinary material cultural and historical heritage of the country.

"We will stay consistent and work hard to find the final institutional and systemic solution for the museum, as well as other important cultural institutions in BiH," he added.

The National Museum, one of the landmark buildings in Sarajevo, was closed in October 2012 due to funding issues. Endit
