Power supply has been resumed in the whole region of Crimea after a week-long electricity blackout in the peninsula, the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry said Sunday.
"As of Nov. 29, no single settlement in Crimea is cut off electricity," the TASS news agency quoted the press service of the ministry as saying.
Crimea's own electricity generation can now satisfy more than 50 percent of the power demand, said the ministry, adding that 20 convoys carrying about 250 electricity generators are on the way to the peninsula.
Last Sunday morning, activists, including ethnic Crimean Tatars and members of Ukrainian nationalist movements, allegedly destroyed several electricity pylons in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine, including two important power lines leading to Crimea, leaving more than 1.8 million people in the Black Sea resort and two districts of Kherson in blackout.
