The cumulative export turnover of Vietnam's agro-forestry-fisheries products reached some 140.6 billion U.S. dollars during the 2011-2015 period, with an average annual growth rate of 9 percent, the country's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) said on Tuesday.
The figures were released by MARD Minister Cao Duc Phat at a conference to review the sector's performance held in Vietnam's capital Hanoi on Tuesday. In 2015, export turnover of these products rose 54.6 percent compared to that in 2010, reaching 30.14 billion U.S. dollars.
The ten products which have export revenue surpassed one billion U.S. dollars include rice, coffee, rubber, pangasius, shrimp, cashew nuts, pepper, vegetable, cassava and wood products.
The sector set a target to earn some 31 billion U.S. dollars from exports in 2016 and around 39 to 40 billion U.S. dollars by 2020, the ministry said on its website.
In the 2011-2015 period, the sector's GDP growth rate reached 3.13 percent. The rate is expected to stay at 3 to 3.5 percent in 2016 and 2.5 to 3 percent in 2016-2020. Enditem
