One of three railway border crossings between Croatia and Hungary, which were temporarily closed in February due to the ongoing refugee crisis, was reopened on Tuesday.
The Koprivnica-Gyekenyes border crossing was the first to be reopened, Croatian Railway (HZ) said.
A joint statement from the Croatian and Hungarian foreign ministries on Monday said the three railway border crossings of Kotoriba-Murakeresztur, Koprivnica-Gyekenyes and Beli Manastir-Magyarboly, would reopen.
The decision to reopen the railway border crossings was the first indicator of improving bilateral relations which had been tense recently over refugee and other issues, it said.
The border between the countries were closed in mid-October last year, after a large number of migrants entered Hungary en route to western European countries.
In late 2015, Hungary set up a fence along its southern border with Serbia and Croatia to prevent the migrants from entering. Endit
