A person from Cologne, Germany wanted by Interpol on suspicion of terrorism was arrested near the southern Croatian town of Omis, police said on Thursday.

The 52-year-old man was identified as Murat Catulay, of Kurdish origin, who is believed to have been involved in several terrorist attacks across Turkey between 1989 and 2001, local media reported.

Catulay, who faces a life imprisonment sentence in Turkey, was arrested on Wednesday when he was on vacation with his family near Omis and was made to appear before an investigating judge at the Split County Court, according to police.

The court set a bail at 50,000 euros (55,470 U.S. dollars), police added. Endit
