The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) says it is interrogating seven people arrested on suspicion of targeting its convoy with improvised explosive devices (IED) on Monday in the southern Somali region of Muuri.
The seven were arrested Monday following the attack, in which one AMISOM vehicle was slightly damaged, the AU mission said Tuesday.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but Somalia-based Islamist group Al-Shabaab frequently carries out attacks in the country in its insurgency against the government.
AMISOM also said Al-Shabaab on Monday blew up a vehicle carrying civilians in the Somali capital Mogadishu, killing two people.
AMISOM troops are helping the Somali government battle Al-Shabaab militants.
Al-Shabaab has intensified its attacks ahead of Somalia's parliamentary election due to begin late this month and presidential election in October, vowing to to disrupt the polls by attacking polling stations.
