Hungarian-born Hollywood legend Zsa Zsa Gabor has died of a heart attack in Los Angeles aged 99.

Gabor's husband, Frederic Prinz von Anhalt confirmed to dpa that the film actress, famous for playing herself, died painlessly in the couple's Bel Air home, on Sunday.

Von Anhalt said that he had not yet thought about his wife's burial.

"I have no idea," he told dpa over the phone. "We had just decorated the Christmas tree and the whole bedroom. The fire was on, and there were red flowers everywhere. It was a perfect Christmas atmosphere."

"She was so happy to see the Christmas tree."

Born in Budapest, Gabor came to the United States in 1941, where she married hotel entrepreneur Conrad Hilton. The couple had a daughter together, and they divorced in 1947.

Gabor's Hollywood career began in the 1950s with the movies "Lovely to Look At," "Moulin Rouge," "Lili," Orson Welles' "Touch of Evil" and the 1958 camp classic "Queen of Outer Space."

Her marriage to Frederic Prinz von Anhalt -- her ninth -- was also infamously tumultuous. Enditem
