Los Angeles Clippers All-Star point guard Chris Paul will be sidelined six to eight weeks after a left thumb surgery, the team confirmed on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old tore his left thumb ligament in a game against Oklahoma City on Monday, when he was trying to defend against Thunder star Russell Westbrook and collided with him.

The Clippers said the surgery was successful.

This is not Paul's first thumb injury in his career. He had another surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb in the 2012 off-season.

The nine-time All-Star player contributed 17.5 points, 9.7 assists, 5.3 rebounds and a league-leading 2.25 steals for the Clippers. Enditem
