Belarus, Latvia file joint bid to host ice hockey world championship in 2021

The Belarusian and Latvian Ice Hockey Federations have filed a joint application to host the ice hockey world championship in 2021, Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation said on Thursday.

Leaders of Belarus and Latvian Hockey Federations signed an agreement on Thursday on a joint bid to host the 2021 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championship. The only rival in the fight for the right to host the world championship is Finland.

The championship is due to be held on May 7-23, 2021. The winner to host the world's biggest ice hockey game in 2021 will be decided at an IIHF annual congress on May 19, 2017, in Cologne, Germany, during this year's IIHF Ice Hoecky Championship.

Both countries have already hosted a world ice hockey forum: Latvia in 2006 and Belarus in 2014. Endit
