JSE closes in positive territories on Tuesday

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) closed in positive territories on Tuesday as the rand-hedges shares climbed.

The all share index was up 0.63 percent to 53,257.44 points, while the blue chip top 40 index was 0.73 percent up. The industrial sector gained 1.12 percent. Banks and retailers were on the rebounds at 0.32 percent and 0.22 percent respectively.

On the JSE, market heavyweight Naspers' share edged up 1.85 percent to R2,537.

Luxury goods maker Richemont was up 2.82 percent to R108.35 and Discovery was up 1.39 percent to R133.56.

Among banks, Standard Bank gained 0.46 percent to R147.93 and Barclay Africa lost 0.48 percent to R147.82.

Truworths dropped 0.96 percent to R73.29. Endit
