NEW DELHI -- The wreckage of missing Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet of Indian air force (IAF) was spotted after three days of continuous search, officials said Friday.

The remains have been found 60 km northwest of Tezpur city in Sonitpur district of India's northeastern state of Assam.

"The wreckage of the missing SU-30 jet was found close to the last known position of the aircraft, which was 60 km north-west of Tezpur in Assam's Sonitpur district," India's semi-official news agency Press Trust of India (PTI) quoted defense spokesperson at Tezpur, Lt Col Sombit Ghosh as said. NAY PYI TAW -- Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi met with seven Northern Alliance non-signatory armed groups to the Nationwide Cease fire Accord (NCA) on the sideline of the second meeting of the 21st Century Panglong Peace Conference of Myanmar in Nay Pyi Taw Friday.

The first batch of four groups who met with Suu Kyi were the United Wa State Army (UWSA), Kachin Independence Organization (KIO), Shan State Progressive Party (SSPP)-North and Mongla's National Democratic Alliance Army (NDAA), followed by the second batch of three other groups of Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), Kokang's Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) and Arakan Army (AA). COLOMBO -- Sri Lanka's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday made a global appeal as the death toll from flash floods and landslides rose to 91.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has activated the Emergency Response Unit of the Ministry, to coordinate rescue and relief measures related to the flood situation in several parts of Sri Lanka," a statement from the ministry said.

"In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the Ministry of Disaster Management, has made an appeal to UN, International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) and neighboring countries to provide assistance to affected people, especially in the areas of search and rescue operations." KABUL -- Ten civilians were killed and six others wounded in an explosion in Afghanistan's western province of Herat on Friday, reported local media Tolo News.

The incident occurred when a moving vehicle ran over an Improvised Explosive Device in Adraskan District of the province, 640 km west of national capital of Kabul, according to the report. (Afghanistan-Bomb) Enditem
