LONDON, May 26 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.40 percent, or 29.92 points, to close at 7,547.63 points.
Informa, a British publishing and events company, soared 5.84 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Johnson Matthey and Rolls-Royce Holdings increased by 2.58 percent and 2.52 percent, respectively.
Major British commercial bank Lloyds Banking Group was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 1.86 percent.
The international biopharmaceutical company Shire dropped 1.83 percent. United Utilities Group, a British water company, fell 1.8 percent. Enditem
