TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks ended largely flat on Monday in thin trading as despite investors buying back on dips, the market was cautious regarding the future course of geopolitics in the region after the Democratic People's Republic of Korea test-fired another missile ahead of markets opening.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 4.27 points, or 0.02 percent, from Friday to end the day at 19,682.57.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, edged 0.79 point, or 0.05 percent, higher, to close the day at 1,570.21.

Trading volume on the main section on Monday came to 1,274.53 million shares, dropping from Friday's volume of 1,563.61 million shares, and declining issues outpaced advancing ones by 942 to 933 on the First Section.

The turnover on the fist trading day of the week totaled 1,792.8 billion yen (16.10 billion U.S. dollars).

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 62.36 points, or 0.24 percent, to 25,701.63 points on Monday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 25,579.15 and 25,744.72. Turnover totaled 60.80 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 7.80 billion U.S. dollars).

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended lower here on Monday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,764.89 down 7.41 points or 0.42 percent, and the Emas was at 12,596.20 down 65.38 points or 0.52 percent.

Turnover declined to 2.32 billion shares valued at 1.87 billion ringgit Malaysia (437.17 million U.S. dollars), compared with 2.86 billion shares valued at 2.61 billion ringgit Malaysia(610.96 million U.S. dollars) on last Friday.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed lower by 4.48 points, or 0.08 percent, to a level of 5,712.33 on Monday.

Some 295,181 transaction were booked, involving 34.3 billion copies of share with total value of 11.3 trillion rupiah (about 848.9 million U.S. dollars).

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Monday moved down 1.10 points, or 0.07 percent to close at 1,568.17 points.

Some 6.46 billion shares worth 31.22 billion baht (about 920 million U.S. dollars) changed hands.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks finished lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 2.28 points, or 0.07 percent, to close at 3,217.14.

A total of 1.76 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 669.4 million Singapore dollars (483.64 million U.S. dollars). Decliners outnumbered gainers 222 to 213.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 93.81 points on Monday, up 0.12 points, or 0.13 percent, against the previous trading session.

A total of over 63.309 million shares worth some 1.033 trillion Vietnamese dong (some 45.71 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended lower on Monday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) lost 2.33 points, or 0.10 percent, to settle at 2,352.97. Trading volume stood at 311.86 million shares worth 5.53 trillion won (4.94 billion U.S. dollars).

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 746.25 points on Monday, up 2.84 points, or 0.38 percent, against last Friday's closing session.

About 252.309 million shares worth 4.801 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (214.49 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange.

VN30-Index, the new benchmark index for the southern bourse, which tracks the 30 leading stocks by both market capitalization and liquidity, closed at 722.26 points, up 3.39 points, or 0.47 percent.

A total of 71.976 million shares worth 1.758 trillion VND (78.55 million U.S. dollars) were traded on Monday.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market closed on Monday up 2.43 percent compared to the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index increased by 24.54 points to reach 1,034.04 points after closing.

A total of 8,900 shares worth about 46 million Lao kip (nearly 5,623 U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market. Enditem
