NAIROBI, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Kenya is on the cusp of being vetoed from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) family for failing to conduct its elections.

Pere Miro, the IOC Deputy Director General, said its Kenyan affiliate has refused to hold democratic polls and will have no reason not to cut its funds and any further communication during its Executive Board meeting on July 9-10 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The IOC has demanded for concrete answers from the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (Nock) after their elections aborted on May 5 following a High Court injunction.

"A complete update on this situation will be provided at the next meeting of the IOC Executive Board on July 9 and 10, which will reserve the right to take any further action in accordance with the Olympic Charter," said Miro in a response to Nock secretary general Francis Paul, who had written to IOC explaining the situation in Kenya.

IOC has warned Kenya it should not drag the name of the Olympic body in its circus saying that for the last one year they have spared no effort to facilitate and ensure the smooth and peaceful implementation of the roadmap agreed upon between all parties.

"Unfortunately, these allegations look like another attempt to avoid addressing the real issues," said Miro.

"IOC's role is to work for the interest of the Olympic and Sports Movement and the athletes as a whole, in accordance with the Olympic Charter and the principles and rules of the Olympic Movement."

IOC wants Kenya to clarify why Kenya Taekwondo Federation's case was not discussed and sorted out during national Extraordinary General Assembly where the revised constitution was adopted.

In defence, Paul, Nock secretary general, urged IOC to resume funding because they are in limbo and can't pay office rent and salaries to its employees.

Legendary Paul Tergat is expected to take over Kenya's Olympic body whenever the elections will be called to replace retiring Kipchoge Keino. Enditem
