GAZA, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Islamic Hamas movement said Wednesday that the earlier decision of a top European Union court to keep the organization on the list of terrorist groups "was unfair."

"Hamas will legally carry on to challenge the unfair political decisions against our people and against our movement," the group, which currently rules the Gaza Strip, said in an official statement.

"Hamas is obliged to join a battle of defending our people's rights against the Zionist defamation (Israel) and those who support it," the statement added.

Earlier on Wednesday, the European Union's top court ruled that Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas should remain on the EU terrorism blacklist, referring the case back to a lower court, according to the Jerusalem Post news website.

"Hamas fully understands the substantial political support the Zionist entity gains in the west, and Hamas fully understands the large popular support the Palestinian cause is gaining, which teases the Zionists and their allies," Hamas said.

The group also reiterated that the movement will remain, under any circumstances, loyal to its political line and a defender to the Palestinian people's rights "with no concessions to a little piece of the land of Palestine." Enditem
