VIENTIANE, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- A friendly basketball match between Chinese and Lao youth was held here on Friday.

Speaking at the opening of the match, Lao Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Kikeo Chanthabouly welcomed Shanghai young basketball team to Laos.

Kikeo, who is also president of the Lao Basketball Federation, hoped that basketball lovers from two countries will further cooperate to help improve skills of Lao bastketballers.

Representative of Shanghai young basketball delegation Li Bin encouraged Chinese and Lao basketball players to perform well and learn from each other in order to improve the level of Asian youth basketball, contributing to the friendly cooperation between the two countries.

The match on Friday night ended with a win of 74-72 for the Chinese team.

The Chinese delegation will continue to hold friendly matches with national and provincial basketball teams of Laos until next Tuesday. Enditem
