MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed flat on a negative note Thursday. Equity benchmarks continued to trade with moderate losses, weighed by banks, auto, oil and FMCG stocks.

The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex closed at 32,370.04, 30.47 points or 0.09 percent down compared to its previous close at 32,400.51.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Thursday moved down 0.16 points, or 0.01 percent to close at 1,670.49 points.

Some 10.23 billion shares worth 54.49 billion baht (about 1.65 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 105.75 points on Thursday, up 0.57 points or 0.54 percent against the previous trading session.

Over 72.732 million shares worth some 646.830 billion Vietnamese dong (some 28.8 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Thursday, an increase of 30.2 percent in volume and 5 percent in value against the previous trading session.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) dropping 0.13 percent or 4.25 points to close at 3213.82.

A total of 1.79 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.12 billion Singapore dollars (about 826.80 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 215 to 211.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed down 17.47 points, or 0.06 percent, to 28,110.33 points on Thursday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 28,046.94 and 28,184.37. Turnover totaled 108.50 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 13.90 billion U.S. dollars).

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.82 percent higher on Thursday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index increased by 67.54 points to 8,286.86. The all-share index went up by 30.96 points, or 0.64 percent, to 4,885.00.

Trading volume reached 1.70 billion shares worth 7.96 billion pesos (156.34 million U.S. dollars).

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market closed on Thursday up 0.19 percent compared to the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index increased by 1.95 points to reach 1,028.64 points after closing.

A total of 630,600 shares worth about 4.66 billion Lao kip (nearly 563,918 U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended lower on Thursday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) lost 5.70 points, or 0.24 percent, to settle at 2,406.50. Trading volume stood at 270 million shares worth 5.5 trillion won (4.9 billion U.S. dollars).

South Korea's currency finished at 1,132.7 won against the greenback, down 4.4 won from the previous close.

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market ended the day drastically lower on Thursday as investors engaged in a wide scale sell-off across most sectors.

At the market close, the main S&P/ASX 200 index was 53.70 points down, or 0.94 percent, to end at 5,655.40 points, while the wider-ranged All Ordinaries index was 53.00 points lower, or 0.92 percent, to be 5,716.70 points. Enditem
