BAKU, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Azerbaijan's foreign currency reserves have reached 42 billion U.S. dollars over the last 9 months, Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev told a government meeting here on Monday.
"Despite a fall in oil prices, the government has set a goal to boost our currency reserves this year," Aliyev said.
According to the President, Azerbaijan's forex increased by 4.5 billion U.S. dollars to 42 billion U.S. dollars in the first nine months this year, thanks to the cost-effective use of foreign exchange reserves and correct investment program.
He said the non-oil industry grew by 3.1 percent, and exports exceeded import during the first nine months, resulting in trade surplus of 4.4 billion U.S. dollars. Enditem
