MOSCOW, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Russia and Nigeria signed agreements on the construction and operation of a nuclear power plant and a multi-purpose research center in Nigeria, Russia's Rosatom state nuclear corporation said Monday in a statement.
The agreements were signed on the sidelines of a ministerial meeting on the peaceful use of nuclear energy held in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of United Arab Emirates, along with a road map for cooperation in the field of peaceful use of nuclear technologies.
"These are large-scale projects of strategic importance, which will determine the relationship between our two countries in the long term," said Anton Moskvin, vice president of the marketing and business development department of Rusatom Overseas.
"The development of nuclear technologies will allow Nigeria to strengthen its position as one of the leading countries of the African continent," the statement quoted Moskvin as said. Enditem
