BERLIN, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- An explosion in a four-storey apartment block on Saturday evening in the central German town of Salzgitter has injured four people, two of them seriously, German news agency DPA reported on Sunday.
Three men and one woman were taken to local hospitals with injuries following the blast, which occurred inside an apartment on the building's top floor, local police were quoted as saying.
The shockwave created by the explosion caused damage to the apartment and the building's facade, police said in a statement.
Residents have been evacuated and are temporarily staying in alternate accommodation nearby.
