NAIROBI, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- The World Boxing Council (WBC) Super-bantamweight champion, Kenyan Fatuma Zarika, is aiming at making short work of challenger, Catherine Phiri from Zambia during their title bout in Nairobi on Dec. 2.

Zarika made history when she became the first Kenyan to win a WBC world title, dethroning Jamaican Alicia Ashley through split points decision on Oct. 1 last year at the Dort Federal Event Center in Flint Michigan, United States.

She returned from a two-month training stint in the United States facilitated by bookmakers, SportPesa, on Tuesday night ready to fight the Zambian who lost the WBC bantamweight crown earlier this year.

"I'm feeling fit and ready to go forward and face my opponent I will be facing for the first time and I want to promise my fans an entertaining bout that will keep all of us entertained," the Kenyan pugilist told journalists on Friday.

"I enjoyed training in the U.S. because the training facilities there are much more advanced and the flexible schedule that offers a more conducive environment to work out," she added.

Zarika insisted she was focusing on her fight instead of plotting a way past Phiri during their anticipated title clash following the collapse of her defence against Ashley in July. Enditem
