NEW DELHI, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- A passenger plane of national carrier Air India, on way to the southern city of Chennai from Dubai, was diverted to India's financial capital Mumbai Monday, following a medical emergency on board.

A male passenger complained of chest pain on Air India flight number AI 906, following which the pilot decided to divert the Airbus A321 aircraft to Mumbai, a spokesperson for the airline told the media.

The plane, which was carrying 164 passengers, apart from crew members, landed at Mumbai international airport, where the passenger was disembarked and checked by doctors, before flying for its destination.

The passenger has been checked by airport doctors and certified fit for travelling onward to Chennai, the spokesperson said. Enditem
