SARI PUL, Afghanistan -- At least seven Taliban militants were killed and five others injured as a gun battle erupted in the northern Sari Pul province, an Afghan army spokesman in the northern region said on Saturday.
The clash broke out after the Taliban militants attacked a military convoy in Duaba area of Sangcharak district Friday afternoon, triggering a gun battle which lasted for four hours, said army spokesman Mohammad Hanif Rezai. (Afghanistan-Gun Battle)

SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir -- At least six people were killed and 30 others injured after a bus carrying them skidded off a mountainous road and fell into gorge in Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said Saturday.

MEXICO CITY -- A crash between a tractor-trailer, a van and a pick-up truck on Friday in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur left at least seven people dead and one injured, the local government said.
