KABUL, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Two Afghan security officials were shot and killed in separate attacks in the latest string of targeted killing in the country, sources said Sunday.
Gunmen ambushed the vehicle of Ghafor Khan, deputy director of intelligence department of the northern province of Baghlan, on Sunday morning.
"The attack occurred in Sang-e-Sorakh locality, Dushi district of Baghlan. The shooting left Khan and an intelligence officer on the vehicle seriously wounded. Unluckily, Khan succumbed to injuries at a hospital after the attack," Shams Barakzai, deputy provincial council, told Xinhua.
On Saturday, Hajji Haroon, deputy head of intelligence department of Afghan National Police in Kama, was shot dead in Kama district of the eastern province of Nangarhar, the provincial government confirmed in a statement.
No group has claimed the incidents but Taliban outfit routinely claims responsibility for targeted killings.
