ATHENS, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Greek main opposition New Democracy party leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis urged Greeks to vote for political change on Sunday, during the party's main pre-election rally in Athens on Wednesday evening.
European Parliament elections will be held in Greece along with municipal and regional elections on May 26.
The conservatives call voters for a result that would force Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to call snap general elections sooner than October this year when the government's term expires.
From Peristeri, a densely populated blue-collar municipality in the western part of the Greek capital, Mitsotakis promised to unite all Greeks and give solutions to their problems.
Pointing to all recent opinion surveys which indicate a clear lead for his party over the ruling Radical Left SYRIZA party, he appeared confident about the outcome of this Sunday's electoral battle.
"We should all be united to take Greece forward. We should become the frontrunners of a major political change that will bring investments, growth opportunities and good jobs, well-paid job positions in particular for this remarkable youth, our young people who should hope that they will live a better life than their fathers and grandfathers," Mitsotakis said.
