JALALABAD, Afghanistan, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Afghan forces had killed 32 militants in Surkhrod district of eastern Nangarhar province as cleanup operations continued, said an army statement released here Sunday.
Six more militants were injured, 22 villages had been cleared, and the law and order have been restored there over the past 24 hours, the statement added.
However, it said that eight civilians sustained injuries as a mortar mine fired by the armed insurgents struck a house and a driver was killed as his vehicle ran over a mine over the past two days.
Taliban militants who are in control of parts of the relatively troubled Nangarhar province have yet to make comments. Enditem
