ATHENS, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- Greece's Coast Guard confirmed on Monday the death of two people who went missing a day earlier after their yacht capsized due to bad weather in the waters near the western port of Patras.
Authorities said the two dead were French nationals.
The bad weather front continued to sweep through Greece on Monday, heading to the east of the country.
The Greek Fire Brigade reported in a press release that it has evacuated 40 people from Kineta, a beach town southwest of the Greek capital Athens, and was working on pumping out floodwater and removing fallen trees from the town.
In Athens and its suburbs, schools remained closed until 10 a.m. local time (0800 GMT), after an official notice urged motorists to avoid traveling during the early hours due to heavy rainfall.
Similar situations were reported in northern Greece, with sea transport to nearby islands disrupted amid strong winds.
Meteorologists say the bad weather is expected to recede on Tuesday. Enditem
