RABAT, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Morocco and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) discussed on Monday military cooperation between the two sides, according to a statement by Morocco's General Staff.

Abdelfattah Louarak, the Staff's inspector-general, and visiting Lt. General Hans-Werner Wiermann, director of NATO International Military Staff, reviewed preparations for NATO Regional Exercise (REGEX 20), to be held in Morocco in November 2020, it added.

The military exercise is aimed at interoperability in the areas of operational planning and force preparation. It will involve some 30 representatives from NATO partner countries, the statement said.

According to the statement, Morocco, which has a permanent military liaison officer with NATO, joined the organization's interoperability platform in 2016.

In 2017, Morocco and NATO concluded an agreement to strengthen cybersecurity, it said. Enditem
