JERUSALEM, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- Israel will establish a medical cybersecurity incubator, the Soroka Medical Center in southern Israel reported on Tuesday.

The incubator, which will be based on an innovative laboratory, will be set up by the hospital in collaboration with Israel Innovation Authority and will focus on developing applications related to medical cyber.

As technology advances, most medical devices, even simple ones, have network connectivity with innovative applications.

Thus, the world of medicine is more exposed to many cyber threats, such as theft of medical information for commercial purposes and damage to medical information systems, services and medical equipment.

Hospitals need to be prepared and build a defense system that will identify threats, prevent information leakage, secure devices and measures, and know how to deal with them in real time.

The new incubator's main target is the development of unique, breakthrough and leading solutions to protect the hospital and medical devices from cyberattacks.

These solutions include new medical information firewalls, securing medical devices, comprehensive reference to medical administration systems, ensuring access to medical databases, and dealing with new security challenges in the modern medicine.

The incubator will enable testing of technologies and devices, developing monitoring and information technologies, and more.

As part of the new incubator, selected medical projects will provide technological and business support, as well as supportive framework and workspace. Enditem
