CHICAGO, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) corn futures rallied on Tuesday over upbeat export sales, while wheat and soybeans remained weak.
The most active corn contract for March delivery rose 6 cents, or 1.58 percent, to settle at 3.865 U.S. dollars per bushel. March wheat was down 2.5 cents, or 0.44 percent, to settle at 5.6975 dollars per bushel. March soybeans fell 2.25 cents, or 0.25 percent, to settle at 8.95 dollars per bushel.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) confirmed on Tuesday export sales of 124,355 metric tons of corn for delivery to Mexico during the 2019/20 marketing year.
The report came just one day after another large export sale of corn to Japan during the 2020/21 marketing year, at 111,252 metric tons.
Recent inspection data of U.S. corn for export also supported its prices.
According to USDA statistics, corn examinations for overseas delivery were reported at 668,559 metric tons in the seven days ending on Jan. 23, up sharply from 396,613 tons during the previous period.
Meanwhile, inspections of U.S. wheat and soybeans both declined. Enditem
