ATHENS, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Eleven persons who are suspected of membership in the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party/Front (DHKP-C), listed as a terrorist group by Turkey, the U.S. and the European Union, were arrested during a counter-terrorism operation in Athens, Greek police announced on Friday.

Police stormed two hideouts in the central districts of Exarcheia and Sepolia and found heavy weaponry, according to an e-mailed press statement.

In a detached house in Sepolia were confiscated an RPG type anti-tank rocket-propelled grenade launcher, a Kalashnikov (AK-47) type rifle, four pistols and ammunition, Greek police announced.

They were found hidden inside a tunnel of 47 meters total length which ends in a neighboring plot, the press release added.

Among the arrested, according to the announcement, was a person wanted by Interpol for membership in DHKP-C.

The group has been linked to a long string of attacks in Turkey for many years. Enditem
