Chinese companies donate medical goods to help Myanmar fight COVID-19

YANGON, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese companies in Myanmar on Wednesday donated medical goods to the country to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) donated 150,000 medical masks and 4,000 testing kits to Myanmar's Ministry of Health and Sports at the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar.

The donation will support the government and the people of Myanmar in their fight against the virus, said He Biqing, CEO of ICBC (Yangon Branch), believing that Myanmar will win the war against the COVID-19.

Zaw Than Htun, director general of the Medical Research Department under Myanmar's Ministry of Health and Sports, expressed gratitude to the donation of medical supplies which came at such an important time in Myanmar.

On the same day, Yangon-Shenzhen Industrial Park Group Company Limited donated 10,000 medical masks and SPIC Company provided 2,000 medical masks and 20 thermometers to the government of Yangon Region.

In addition, China General Technology Group provided 14,000 medical masks to Myanma Railways and Wanbao Company donated 10,000 medical masks, 500 N95 respirators and 500 PPEs to the Medical Research Department under the Ministry of Health and Sports.

A medical team from China arrived in Myanmar on Wednesday, along with a total of 5.3 tons of medical materials and equipment.
