QALA-E-NAW, Afghanistan, April 13 (Xinhua) -- At least eight Taliban militants were killed and 11 others wounded, following a fierce confrontation with security forces in the western Badghis province, said an army statement released here Monday.
The clash erupted after a group of Taliban fighters attacked security checkpoints late Sunday to block a main road linking Qadis district to provincial capital Qala-e-Naw, but the security forces including army and police retaliated, forcing the militants to flee after leaving eight bodies behind.
Eleven more militants had been wounded in the firefight lasted for a couple of hours, the statement said. Enditem
